Pillowtalk: Adinia Wirasti April 11 2016

Jakarta-born film actress Adinia Wirasti needs no introduction if you're a fan on Indonesian cinema. With the release of “Ada Apa Dengan Cinta” or “What's Up with Love?” in 2002, the public started their love affair with her, and it hasn't stopped. It's easy to see why. Adinia is clearly passionate about her craft. Off screen, Adinia is graceful, witty and playful. On a tropical morning in Indonesia, Adinia invited us in for a SUKU pillow party. Let's get to know her better...

What project are you working at the moment?
I am currently promoting my new film, Ada Apa Dengan Cinta 2.

You seem to be very busy, how do you wind down at night?
Good music, a bit of light stretching, breathing exercises, and ginger tea calms me down at night.

You were in a classic Indonesian movie called AADC, probably the first teen movie of my era. It was massive, what was the experience like?
It was the door to my career, so it remains a big experience for me. After AADC was released back in 2002, my life changed. People started recognising me, and calling me by the character's name in the film. The popularity was a bit hard to deal with, I had a hard time coping with it. I mean we were facing twenty thousand people screaming and shouting when we had a meet and greet in Bandung, literally we all had to run just to go to the bathroom. At that time we were just a bunch of normal teenage kids, not knowing the film was going to be that big. That kind of experience make me a bit timid to be in the spotlight, but with time, I am learning to cope with it.

On the other hand, I was suddenly exposed to this wonderful world of acting, and fell in love with filmmaking right then and there. It was a long process of building credibility in the Indonesian cinema industry, but then, and right up to the present I am still very much in love with filmmaking.

So, AADC is everything to me and I am forever grateful for it.

Which character is your favourite out of all that you've ever played as an actress?
I don't have one. It's not fair to pick one of your babies as your favourite ; )

Which book are you reading at the moment?
I am reading "Anak Bajang Menggiring Angin" by Sindhunata.

What's your daily mantra?
That everything will end, and to think of something I am grateful for every day... And coffee!

What's an ideal day for Adinia Wirasti?
An unexpected day filled with wonderful surprises.
